Bradford on Avon Liberal Democrats are urging residents to write to Wiltshire Council to support the 20 mph speed limits being proposed for many roads around the town, including those near schools. People have until 27 March to comment on the plans. The details are here and comments can be submitted via the online form here.

The proposals cover residential streets around the town including Christchurch Road and Berryfield Road, near Christchurch School, and Frome Road and Kennet Gardens near Fitzmaurice School.

County Councillor Rosemary Brown, who represents Bradford on Avon North, said: “I would strongly encourage residents to send their views to Wiltshire Council and make sure this plan goes through. Having a clear, formal 20 mph limit on these roads will make motorists slow down and make the streets safer, especially for children going to and from school. Personally, I would like to see a town-wide limit of 20mph and we will keep working for this.”

Liberal Democrats have been campaigning alongside residents on the issue for many years and have worked with local politicians from other parties on county and town groups to reach the stage where the proposals have been made.
