Debra White Hughes
Town Council candidate, Bradford on Avon South
Debra grew up in South Gloucestershire and lived and worked in London for many years before moving to Bradford fifteen years ago. After a career in sales and marketing within the financial services industry, she moved into coaching and business consulting. She is married to Dyfrig who, after many decades pioneering energy efficiency measures, has more recently taken a job here in town. Debra has volunteered with Wiltshire Council's Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme.
Debra says, “I was particularly struck by the way the town pulled together during the covid crisis, and the way so many local businesses have adapted so they can continue to serve the community while keeping staff and customers safe. I’m really proud to live here.
“Soon, we will be moving forward from covid-19, into a future where the environment and sustainability are higher on everyone’s agenda. I want to be a part of the conversation about how this happens.
“We will need to think about how to deal with traffic levels and pollution, making the town safer for both local pedestrians and tourists, helping to ensure our local businesses thrive, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential after the disruption to jobs and education caused by the pandemic during the past year. I want to make sure all voices are heard and represented equally, and to actively contribute to the quality of our lives here.”
